Science and Technology is a field that provides any country with a genuine progression. The success of a country and its nation heavily depends on its technological advances. A country is powerful that leads in its field of technological development. Unfortunately now-a-days the younger generation of Britian rather chooses to become a pop-idol than a budding scientist.
Science subjects are drying up with a very limited students enrolling onto them. Many colleges have dropped an important science such as Physics just because there are no students enrolling for it. Fewer students are taking up Chemistry and Biology A’ Level. Students who are doing Sciences are struggling to grasp the concepts. The jobs are very limited in Scientific field. If few students are taking up Sciences it is mainly for careers such as Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, which are financially more rewarding than careers such as research and development. Fewer people are taking Science forward at Doctorate level. That can lead into a dearth of scientists and researchers that would otherwies provide the country with powerful tools of independency. It is reserach and development that takes a nation forward and not showbiz and entertainment sector.
It’s vital that Science and Technology is promoted by the government to ensure that the country keep producing talented engineers and scientist who would lead the country towards technological success. The money should be injected into Science departments of Universities and Colleges. The students must be motivated towards Scientific and technical fields. Science teachers should be acknowledged and appreciated accordingly as they are also fast becoming a dying breed. Without good teachers, there cannot be good scientists. Without good scientist there will not be a developed country, just a country full of attention seeking, show biz crazy, media manipulating, and self-centred community.
