Because science, technology and medicine matter. Because they raise questions that all of us, as citizens, need to be able to answer. Because for more than a generation, Israeli philosophers, historians, sociologists and anthropologists of science, technology & medicine have acquired a world reputation for brilliant and creative research, describing and explaining how these matters came to play the crucial role they play in our society, and what it all means.
Many thanks for the 500 or so members and guests who attended our annual conference, and made it such a rousing success. Many thanks as well to the Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem for the gracious hospitality.
The Mara Beller Prize is awarded each year to recognize the best graduate research in our fields of study. The prize memorializes Prof. Mara Beller, who was a beloved and respected colleague and teacher, and symbolized the very best of our field. This year the prize was awarded to Dr. Hadar Perry (Bar Ilan) and Dr. Adam Berg (Haifa). Honorable mention went to Mr. Gal Raz (Tel Aviv). These three students exemplify the excellence and creativity to which all of us aspire.
